UFC 314 (on April 12, 2025) is a highly anticipated PPV card taking place in Miami, FL featuring a title fight for the vacant featherwight belt between future Hall of Famer Alexander Volkanovski and the surging Diego Lopes. The belt was vacated after Ilia Topuria moved up to challenge for potential superfights with the likes of Islam Makhachev. Volk is coming off back to back defeats for the first time in his career after falling to Topuria and Makhachev in title fights. Lopes has won 5 in a row most recently beating down former title challenger Brian Ortega at UFC 306. In the co-main event, Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett takes on former Bellator champion Michael Chandler in a potential barnburner. This card also features the outspoken Bryce Mitchell along with the debut of Patricio “Pitbull’ Friere.
Update: It was an amazing fight card from the prelims through to the main event. In the co-main, Paddy Pimblett shocked the MMA world with his dismantling of veteran Michael Chandler. Chandler was able to get some early takedowns but the crisp striking eventually led to a TKO victory from the Brit. On the mic after the breakthrough win, Paddy called out the likes of Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje and Charles “Do Bronx” Oliviera. The main event for the vacant featherweight title belt was a back and forth between the former champ Alexander Volkanovski and iron-chinned challenger Diego Lopes. The fight was a clear fight of the night with the striking volume and footwork of the Aussie legend outscoring the power shots of the Brazilian. In the end, Volkanovski recaptured the belt in a vintage performance. Fight of the Night went to Lopes/Volk and Performance of the Night went to Pimblett and Jean Silva. Hopefully Dominick Reyes took home a locker room bonus for his crushing knockout of Nikita Krylov.
